Week 5

This week we discussed site design and e-commerce. To begin designing your website, consider looking at other sites that have the same marketing style as you to find inspiration. Look for things that you like or dislike about these pages so you know whether those are things you want to include on your page or not. As a general rule of thumb, keep it simple so you do not overwhelm the site’s visitors or distract from the products. At the same time as this, however, be unique enough that visitors will remember your site and want to return again.

E-commerce is the act of buying or selling something online. When creating your website, it is important to know how to handle certain aspects of e-commerce, such as shipping, returns, tracking inventory, etc. Consider setting policies in place, downloading apps to track progress, and researching different ways to deal with taxes and out-of-state shipping.

Creating a Web Business:

  1. Design the site page:

    • Know definite likes and dislikes

    • Keep general rules of design in mind

    • Be unique

  2. Handle E-Commerce:

    • Set policies in place

    • Download apps to track inventory and shipping

    • Research out-of-state taxes and shipping
